Belinda Silbert is from Johannesburg, South African and is the first South African-born woman to be ordained as a Rabbi (outside of the Reform Movement.) Belinda received her Semicha /Ordination from Or Ahavah Kehillah Yeshiva in the USA after an extensive and rigorous course of study and examination by the Beth Din. Her love of Torah, Kabbalah and Cantorial Music in addition to her passion for education ensures Ani Ledodi Jewish Congregation’s growth trajectory. Belinda is a trained Opera Singer and her music adds to the spirituality of prayer services at Ani Ledodi Jewish Congregation. She is an acknowledged Kabbalist and she specialises in Jewish Mysticism. She is also a very experienced bereavement counsellor and feels that Pastoral Counselling is an essential tool for twenty-first century Chaplaincy.
